a) responsibility for the observance of the legal provisions applicable to its scope of operations and supervises the observance of these legal provisions by persons operating within the free zone applicable to such operations;
b) leasing and renting land and buildings from Galati Free Zone to juridical and physical persons, Romanian or foreign, under the conditions specified by law;
c) administration and utilisation of platforms, warehouses, equipment and facilities, social administrative buildings, transforming stations, land and other fixtures of its own;
d) repair and maintenance of buildings and facilities under its administration;
e) keeping in operating conditions the water, thermal agent and electricity
installations;
f) repair and maintenance of access roads;
g) up keeping of cleanliness of Galati Free Zone building and constructions,
removal of oil, domestic industrial wastes;
h) statistical recording of production and financial data of economic agents utilizing Galati Free Zone;
i) co-ordination and approval of operations within Galati Free Zone through licensing of free zone end users – economic agents, physical and juridical persons, Romanian and foreign – for the purpose of balanced development of the zone, avoiding unlawful competition, protection of environment;
j) establishes, according to legal provisions, the minimal yearly tariffs for all operations carried out within the Galati Free Zone or in connection therewith, based upon comparative and comprehensive analysis and submits them for the approval of the Administration Council.
k) as administrator of Galati Free Zone accompanies the inspection teams controlling the border crossing of sea or river transportation means;
l) approval of technical documentation and execution projects of new economic projects executed by economic agents, Romanian or foreign by their own means or in association with them, in compliance with legal provisions in force to ensure balanced development of Galati Free Zone and protection of environment.
m) enforcement of labour protection norms, environment as well, hygiene, prevention and fighting transmissible diseases supervise application thereof.
n) fire fighting and fire prevention
o) draw up, submission for approval and execution revenues and expenditures budget of its own operation, according to law.
p) reports periodically or upon request of Ministry of Transportation through the Agency for Free Zones the operations carried out in the Galati Free Zone and the efficiency thereof.
r) presents studies and projections concerning the volume, directions and phases for development and modernisation, systematisation of Galati Free Zone;
s) organises and executes control and guards at entry gates and within the territory of Galati Free Zone.

The following operations can be performed in the Galati Free Zone:
a) handling, storing, sorting, measuring, packing, conditioning, assembling, processing, fabrication, marking, testing, auctioning, purchasing and selling, repairing, disassembling expertise of goods, transport and forwarding, domestic and international;
b) exhibitions;
c) exchange and financial – banking operations with the approval of National Bank of Romania;
d) setting up of restaurants, wholesale and retail shops within the perimeter of free zone;
e) renting or leasing of buildings, land, storing areas, other unrestrained land of free zone assigned to building up economic projects;
f) quality and quantity control of goods;
g) catering in Galati Free Zone;
h) providing services, other operations typical to regime of Free Zone.
The operations specified in par. 1 will be performed ensuring the environment protection. Subject to the approval of management of the Autonomous Regie Galati Free Zone Administration, inspectors for environment protection are permitted to enter the Galati Free Zone to carry out their specific inspection.
